Delta Upsilon's Advisors' Academy provides a learning opportunity for individuals who interact regularly with a chapter or colony in an advisory capacity at the local chapter level.
The academy is designed to help participants: learn and apply best practices in chapter advising; learn best practices in formulating working relationships with members; discover new resources and opportunities available to the chapters and colonies they advise; discover student development theory; and learn new updates and trends in the fraternity system and in Delta Upsilon.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Define his or her role as an advisor
- Recognize and articulate Delta Upsilon's Four Founding Principles and mission statement as the foundational advisory model
- Explore new research involving Delta Upsilon undergraduates and identify the implications of that research
- Benefit from networking with peer local level advisors
- Formulate a personal advisement plan

Saturday, January 5, 2013 Breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM: Advisors' Academy 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Joint programming with Presidents' Academy participants
Sunday, January 6, 2013 Breakfast provided 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Advisors' Academy
| Cost: Two nights double lodging and four meals are complimentary for the primary advisor to each chapter/colony. To upgrade to a single room, the cost is $125. Additional advisors from the same chapter/colony may register at a cost of $175 for double accommodations and $300 for single accommodations.
Participants will be responsible for meals while traveling, parking and/or ground transportation, and any travel expenses beyond the $100 travel reimbursement.
Travel Reimbursement: Up to $100 in travel reimbursement is provided to the primary advisor to each chapter/colony. Receipt of air travel or map of mileage is required to process the reimbursement after the program. Please send reimbursement requests to Jana at mcclees@deltau.org.
Travel Arrangements: Flying: Please make flight arrangements to arrive into Indianapolis International Airport (IND) by 5:30 PM on Friday, January 4, 2013. Departures should occur after 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 6, 2013. The Columbia Club is approximately 25 minutes from the airport.
Driving: Please plan to arrive in Indianapolis by 6:30 PM on Friday, January 4, 2013. Departures may occur after Noon on Sunday, January 6, 2013.
