2018 Founders Day of Giving a success
Nov. 6, 2018 - The Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation's 2018 Founders Day of Giving raised $35,175.33, surpassing the goal for the campaign.
For the third consecutive year, the Educational Foundation hosted a Founders Day of Giving. Similar to Giving Tuesday or other day-long fundraising campaigns, the goal was to celebrate Delta Upsilon's 184th Founders and raise funds for the Foundation's Annual Loyalty Fund. This fund serves as a general fund for the Foundation, with proceeds benefiting DU educational programs, scholarships for brothers to attend DU programs, academic scholarships for brothers, and more.
"As DUs, our Fraternity membership has played an important role in our lives," says Foundation Director of Advancement Colin Finn, Iowa State '05. "To me, there is no better way to recognize DU's Founders Day than to carry on the mission set forth by our Founders. By giving to the Foundation, our brothers and friends enhance Delta Upsilon's ability to build better men."
The 2018 campaign was officially held Monday, Nov. 5, the day following DU's 184th Founders Day. However, brothers had the opportunity to make an early gift beginning Nov. 3. On Sunday, brothers from the Indiana Chapter (pictured) traveled to DU's International Headquarters in Indianapolis to help prepare for the day.
"We are so grateful for our donors and are excited to have continued success with the Founders Day of Giving," Finn said. "It is becoming a great new tradition."
As a fundraising incentive, again in 2018, scholarships to attend the Leadership Institute were given for the chapter that had the most members donate and the chapter that raised the most money. The Indiana Chapter led in both categories and will now have two additional scholarships for the 2019 Leadership Institute.
Save the date for next Founders Day of Giving, to be held Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.
