Delta Upsilon suspends its Washington State Chapter during investigation

Delta Upsilon International Fraternity has placed its chapter at Washington State University on an emergency suspension as it is investigated for an alleged sexual assault at the chapter facility, as well as potential alcohol violations. A member who has been identified by law enforcement as a potential suspect in the alleged sexual assault has also been suspended from the chapter pending investigation.

Delta Upsilon is working collaboratively with law enforcement and university officials in their investigations, as well as conducting its own internal investigation into the alleged assault and alcohol violations.

“We take these allegations with the utmost urgency and seriousness,” said Delta Upsilon International Fraternity Executive Director Justin Kirk. “Delta Upsilon is dedicated to providing a positive and safe environment for all of our members and guests. As we conduct our internal investigation into our Washington State Chapter, we will look into any potential violations of the law and Fraternity policy. This investigation will allow us to determine next steps.”

Both the chapter and individual member will be under suspension until further notice. This includes, but is not limited to, the cancellation of all chapter activities.

Established on Nov. 4, 1834, Delta Upsilon is an international men's college fraternity with 77 chapters and colonies across the United States and Canada. The Fraternity, founded at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts, is the oldest, non-secret, Greek-letter society and is committed to Building Better Men for a global society through its Four Founding Principles: friendship, character, culture and justice. More than 120,000 men have joined the Delta Upsilon Fraternity since its founding more than 181 years ago.
