DU Is Offering Two sessions of DUEL
A January 2023 session of DUEL will be held in conjunction with Presidents Academy.
Oct. 17, 2022 - Delta Upsilon is excited to announce it will host two sessions of the DU Emerging Leaders Experience (DUEL) in 2023. Thanks to the generosity of Brother James Graham, Oregon State '65, the second session has been added. In 2023, DUEL will be held Jan. 5-8 and June 10-14, and applications for the January DUEL are now open.
DUEL is an immersive program for first- and second-year students who are interested in developing their leadership potential. It is uniquely designed to help young leaders meet the challenges and responsibilities in life and in their chapter.
Using CliftonStrengths for Students (formerly known as StrengthsQuest), the men begin to identify, analyze and understand their personal leadership. They begin to take ownership for creating their ideal experience through Delta Upsilon and identify the specific actions needed to make that experience a reality. They will immerse themselves into conversations regarding diversity and shared values to effectively collaborate and lead through courage and conversation. Most importantly, attendees will create a personal vision of the future for themselves and their chapter.
DU's Membership Outcomes Assessment shows that DUEL is the Fraternity's most impactful program, with participants leaving with greater senses of accountability, commitment and openness to diversity.
The January DUEL will be held in conjunction with DU's Presidents Academy at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, Indiana. This will allow DUEL attendees to coordinate their travel with Chapter Presidents. Applications for the January DUEL are now open and due Nov. 15, 2022. Applications for the June DUEL will open this spring.
Thanks to the DU Educational Foundation and donors like Brother Graham, there are no registration costs for DUEL. However, attendees are responsible for their travel costs.
DU encourages all first- and second-year members to apply for DUEL. Brothers, advisors and parents are also encouraged to nominate a DU to attend DUEL. Those nominated will be contacted by a member of the DU staff about the application process.
